Overwatch is a highly stylized team-based shooter set in a future worth fighting for. Every match is an intense multiplayer showdown pitting a diverse cast of soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddities against each other in an epic, globe-spanning conflict.
However, a High-Skill player didn’t appreciate the competition and used hack while streaming. A top 200 ranked Korean Overwatch player used “aimbot”, this type of hack allows players to attack an opponent without even breaking a sweat (easy Head-Shots). It is clearly evident in a video posted by KiD x, that the player was using the hack.
These cheaters callously used hacks and cheap maneuvers, maybe to improve his rank or just for fun, but now his account is gone for good. Permanent Ban.
Instead of Blizzard’s harsh anti-cheating policy, how someone as high-leveled as they were, not get can caught any soon. It cannot be the case that he was using it for the first time and had guts to stream it. These types of loopholes and buggy anti-cheat detection systems may dissuade other players to continue playing in wake of such circumstances, who practice so hard to reach a higher level.
Apart from focusing on what characters should players use to celebrate Summer Olympics with the Overwatch community and warning players for using heroes other than Lucio, they should be more focused on strengthening these detection programs so that these types of breaches can be avoided in future.
